At PAK7 we believe that telling powerful stories of God at work, changes lives and, ultimately, nations. That’s why we are committed to identifying and investing in young talent in Pakistan as we believe they are very best people to tell God’s story there. Video Star is an exciting new reality TV show designed to do just that!
We are inviting young people from all over Pakistan to produce short video clips and enter them in our competition. They can use their camera phones or more professional equipment if they have it, but don’t need to be an expert to enter. Entrants will then be invited to appear on the Video Star show, where a panel of judges will watch their clip and give them feedback. The best candidates will be invited to the next round.
In the next phase of the competition, candidates will be asked to complete a range of tasks to demonstrate their abilities, like filming a commercial, filming an interview, or writing a storyboard. It will also give us a chance to get to know them better and at the end of the week, 12 of them will be selected to take part in a 3-month video school.
During the 3 months they will live together, learn together, and grow their video making skills, receiving training from a number of experts from around the world. They will also take part in discussions that explore their faith and the different ways in which it can be expressed through media. At the end of this time we will offer those who graduate a paid 9 month internship and have them work on a range of projects to further develop their skills.
And the whole thing is going to get made into a reality TV show! It’s a huge project, but we hope that it will not only help 12 young people to kick-start their careers in Christian media - but it will also make a highly watchable program, where we experience the highs and lows of their journey and ultimately share in the pleasure of their success.
Who knows what God might do with 12 such people? Let’s find out together :-)
